An “Invitation to the Set” of Girls Season 5

An “Invitation to the Set” of Girls Season 5

If you are a huge Girls fan like me then you may want to watch the recent “Invitation to the Set” promo released in anticipation of season 5 starting on February 21st. It looks as though its going to be a game changer of a season and could possibly end the frustrating undulations of poorly judged life choices and impulsive decisions. The teasers and promos have been fairly vague so far with just a few hints to what the season might hold for our leading ladies, but in the “Invitation to the Set” video, Lena Dunham exposes some interesting information that has provoked some interesting thoughts. I shall follow the same...

GIRLS Officially Ends After Season Six

GIRLS Officially Ends After Season Six

There has been a bit of buzz out there that Lena Dunham’s series GIRLS had an end plan in place. Enough speculation was generated to warrant a response from HBO, perhaps prematurely, to confirm such rumors were true. It is a fact that GIRLS will end in 2017. Below is the official Press Release:  HBO RENEWS EMMY®-WINNING COMEDY SERIES GIRLS, CREATED BY AND STARRING LENA DUNHAM, FOR SIXTH AND FINAL SEASON, TO BEGIN IN 2017 LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6, 2016 – With the Emmy-winning comedy series set to launch its fifth season Feb. 21, HBO has renewed GIRLS for a sixth and final season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo,...

HBO GIRLS Drops Season #5 Trailer

HBO GIRLS Drops Season #5 Trailer

I was alerted to the new season 5 trailer for Girls after Lena Dunham posted a gorgeous photo of the four of them on her Instagram page, where Hannah, Jessa and Shosh were in bridesmaid’s dresses and Marnie was in a wedding dress and they stood lovingly draped around each other. This and the trailer both indicate that initially it looks like there is going to be heavy focus on Marnie and her upcoming nuptials. What’s interesting though is that at the end of the trailer, Hannah mentions that Marnie is marrying someone she barely knows. Considering that Desi was in season three and season four, one would assume that she knows him quite...

Dunham’s MAX Apparently on the Fasttrack

Dunham’s MAX Apparently on the Fasttrack

Back on 10.13.15 we told you that Lena Dunham was directing the MAX pilot optioned by the network. Apparently there must be great interest in seeing the project go forward, even though it has not been granted carte blanche series status. Surely they must be hoping for another Dunham hit. Announcements have now surfaced of the cast shaping up for the pilot including a recast of the title character. As reported in that previous post Lisa Joyce was in as Max, but she opted for a role in Issa Rae’s HBO series INSECURE instead. Now in her place is Zoe Kazan (pictured) as the young feminist of the story. MAX is a single-camera comedy described...

Girls Season 5: Teasers, tidbits and speculation

Girls Season 5: Teasers, tidbits and speculation

The production team of GIRLS have been pretty tight lipped when it comes to spilling any kind of beans on what season five is going to have in store for us, however, this writer has a few ideas about what Hannah and the Gang will be up to now having left everything all rather up in the air…as usual. Last season was a pretty weird one in that all the characters are in the same place at the end of the season as they were at the beginning, they just have a whole load of new disastrous memories that they can chalk up to ‘life experience’.  Hannah started the season in Iowa where she was at graduate school, not that it lasted too long as...

Vinyl, Girls & Togetherness Get February 2016 Premiere Dates

Vinyl, Girls & Togetherness Get February 2016 Premiere Dates

Grab your calendars because HBO’s 2016 Winter schedule has taken a slight shift. We all thought that Vinyl, Girls and Togetheness were going to premiere in January. Heck, even the official trailer said January at the end of it! But no more. For whatever reason, HBO has pushed back their traditional Winter block to mid February 2016. This is over a month later than we’d anticipated. For clarity here are the premiere dates in question: Vinyl – Sunday, February 14th at 9PM Girls – Sunday, February 21st at 10PM Togetherness – Sunday, February 21st at 10:30PM This not only pushes back Vinyl and the other two shows,...

Dunham’s Feminism Comedy MAX Gets A Pilot

Dunham’s Feminism Comedy MAX Gets A Pilot

This writer does not keep close tabs on anything Lena Dunham does, but I thought she was working on, in addition to GIRLS, a concept called ALL DRESSED UP AND EVERYWHERE TO GO. Now, it seems another comedy idea as surfaced and it recently got a pilot order. I honestly never perceived Dunham as a feminist but evidently that is a message she wants to make clear with a work titled MAX. MAX is a single-camera comedy described as a raucous comedy set in 1963 about the struggles of second wave feminism, centered on an ambitious magazine writer named Maxine Woodruff looking for liberation. Maxine is an enthusiastic, if misguided, low-level...

Girls Season Finale: “Home Birth”

Girls Season Finale: “Home Birth”

The final episode of Girls season 4 wraps up a lot of story lines, and leaves many more to new exciting adventures.   “Be the walker not the dog” Early on in the episode we see Shosh finally land the job she has been searching for. It’s an exciting opportunity that opens up a lot of doors to her future. The only issue however is that it’s in Tokyo. The rest of her arc this episode is her trying to make the decision whether or not she should take the job. Her current boyfriend begs her to stay, but Ray’s business partner convinces her to take the job. The whole season has revolved around Shoshana’s future,...
