A lot has happened since we brought up that AND JUST LIKE THAT…, the SEX AND THE CITY sequel was slated for HBO Max. But, let’s get the big news out of the way. A debut has been announced that will make fans of Carrie Bradshaw happy. We’ll let Sara Jessica Parker tell you:

If you are an avid fan of SEX AND THE CITY through its six-season run on HBO then you are likely abreast of all the developments for the upcoming sequel series. We have Sarah Jessica Parker reprising the role of “Carrie Bradshaw,” Cynthia Nixon as “Miranda Hobbes,” and Kristin Davis as “Charlotte York.” The gals are now in their 50’s and we look at how their lives have evolved. Whether or not they discuss the glaring absence of “Samantha Jones” (Kim Cattrall) remains to be seen.

But the trio is not the only familiar face seen back in NYC. Chris Noth returns as the iconic “Mr. Big” who set hearts aflutter. He was the unattainable bachelor who gradually evolved into the love of Carrie Bradshaw’s life. The character and the actor also were key components of the SEX AND THE CITY movies. Also, Mario Cantone will reprise the role of “Anthony Marentino,” David Eigenberg will reprise the role of “Steve Brady,” Willie Garson (pictured) will reprise the role of “Stanford Blatch” and Evan Handler will reprise the role of “Harry Goldenblatt.” Okay, if you can’t remember – “Anthony” was Charlotte’s wedding planner & good friend; “Steve” was Miranda’s boyfriend and eventual husband and “Harry” was Charlotte’s divorce lawyer and second husband. As for Garson’s “Stanford”, Max_AndJustLikeThat-Garsonhe was Carrie’s best gay friend. Think of him as, like the equivalent of VEEP’s bagman Gary, he was always there for her. Garson just died in September 2021, so his return here is his last performance.

New faces appear in the story as well. Sara Ramírez (Madam Secretary) stars as “Che Diaz” (they/them), a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured. Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular. Sarita Choudhury (Little Fires Everywhere), Nicole Ari Parker (Empire) and Karen Pittman (The Morning Show) have joined the cast as well. Choudhury plays “Seema Patel,” a single, self-made powerhouse Manhattan real estate broker; Parker plays “Lisa Todd Wexley,” a Park Avenue mother of three and documentarian and Pittman plays “Dr. Nya Wallace,” a brilliant, Max_AndJustLikeThat-Placardchallenging Columbia Law professor. Also onboard are Cathy Ang (Over The Moon), as “Lily Goldenblatt,” Niall Cunningham (Life In Pieces), as “Brady Hobbes,” Alexa Swinton (Billions), as “Rose Goldenblatt,” and Cree Ciccino (The Sleepover), as Brady’s girlfriend, “Luisa Torres.”

Yes, there are plenty of faces in the tale and you can be sure there will be many winks & nods to the classic HBO series as AND JUST LIKE THAT… puts the finishing touches to these performances. The series will be ten half-hour episodes and will be a nice Christmas gift for fans when it debuts in December on HBO Max. We will get you that premiere date when we know it. In the meantime, there are plenty of clips on the show filming in NYC.
