Euphoria_Unhappy-1024x676We were just talking about the long wait for EUPHORIA and now it looks like it just might take way longer to get to our screens OR it might not make it at all!

The internet is abuzz about the fact that Zendaya and friends are having trouble getting Season 3 underway due to an unsatisfactory plotline for the season. It seems Sam Levinson has drafted a story that no one is a fan big fan of seeing coming to fruition. Dark Horizons has capsulated what is going down quite nicely. It posted – Euphoria_title

Creator Sam Levinson, who exerts full creative control over the show, proposed his vision for the season to the network last year. It was to feature a time jump five years into the future.

As the early scripts started coming in post-strike, said scripts reportedly “didn’t pass muster with Zendaya” even as the network was said to be very happy with them. Levinson however had begun overhauling his plans following the death of actor Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen.

Soon the revised scripts were handed in that had a new arc for Zendaya’s Rue. This time it was HBO who was unsatisfied with what they were seeing as it “didn’t feel like the show tonally”.

HBO reportedly explored other options, including the possibility of Levinson himself exiting the show. The idea of a movie was also brought up and discarded as it seems the cast is contracted for a third season and are “truly committed” to ending the show properly.

EuphoriaSpecial1.PosterIt would truly be a disaster for an acclaimed show to muddle through a final season with lackluster scripts a rushed timeline and be way off on its expected tone, pace, and styling. Look at what happened to GAME OF THRONES as it  muddled though its final moments. Levinson’s very own THE IDOL was deemed a creative disater because it started up with unfinished scripts and bad decisions. It would be a great disappointment for EUPHORIA to end on such a note.

Id this process of locking into something solid and having all parties amenable to the course of action is going to take time. Plus, since this show has raised the acting credibitilty of a number of its performers, like Zendaya, Elordi, Sweeney and Reid, they have contracts and film commitments elsewhere to work around. The longer the viewers have to wait to feel euphoric again in front of this show the more likelihood they lose interest and move on.

Levinson has a challenge on his hands. He needs to write a solid piece, HBO has got to like what its seeing and the cast & crew have got to align to make it all happen. We will keep you posted.
