The staff of HBOWatch.com try their best to bring you all of the HBO news that’s fit to print (and some that isn’t). But we can’t do it alone! If our article comments are any indication, we know that there are some massive HBO fans out there who love to give their opinions about True Blood, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and all of the other great shows they’ve come to love over the years.
You don’t need a formal writing background to become a regular writer for HBOWatch. If you’ve ever written an essay or posted on another blog then you’ve already gotten as much experience as I had before founding HBOWatch two years ago. We’re looking for a few good guest bloggers to cover some of the news we just don’t have time to get to day in and day out. If you routinely submit quality stuff we’ll even consider bringing you on as a full fledged writer as long as you don’t mind being paid in DVD/Blu-Ray copies of HBO programs! Even if you’re only interested in one or two programs we’d love to have your thoughts, opinions, memes and anything else you’d be willing to post in a thoughtful and interesting way.
We will of course link to your Facebook, personal site and/or news blog via each of your blog posts if you choose to accept. This is your chance to write for an Entertainment Blog, TV (Television) Blog, AND a News Blog all at once!
If you’d like to write for HBOWatch please send an email to kleinja [AT] gmail.com and include the following:
Time Zone (PST-only just isn’t cutting it these days.. we need some ESTers and international viewers!)
Favorite HBO Programs (or shows you’d like to write about)
Example of past writing or an example HBO article (give us something here!)
An idea for a post or two you’d like to see on HBO Watch.
Spend some time searching through our past articles to get an idea of how the site’s voice sounds to you. We’re not necessarily looking for someone to write news-y articles but if that is something you’d really be interested in let us know! We’re also interested in episode reviews, opinion, commentary, and thoughtful lists but we’d be happy to look at anything HBO related that you feel would contribute to the larger HBO community of viewers.
Photoshop and WordPress skills are a plus but not required.
Marketing and SEO agencies need not apply (unless your stuff is amazing).
External links to shady websites will not be accepted.
We’re in particular need of writers willing to write regularly, contribute their opinions to the team and stick around long-term. Those writers who have done that receive regular shipments of HBO goodies from Amazon and the HBO Store. Your work will not go unrewarded.
Shoot us an email if you’d like to write for us or just have a news tip you feel we’ve missed. We look forward to reading your work soon!
