The wait is almost over, and HBO is just rubbing it in. We’re thirteen days  away from the world-wide premier of Season Five of Game of Thrones, and I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m ready for HBO to stop torturing us with actor interviews and trailers and teasers, and show us a real episode. Still, since we still need to wait exactly one day less than two weeks, we have to make due with what we can, and today that comes in the form of a new teaser trailer HBO recently released on it’s official Game of Thrones Youtube channel. Exciting, right? Maybe not so much.  It’s only a thirty second, re-working of Season Five’s second trailer, with little in substance for those who have already pored over every detail of the original trailer it’s based off. Still, there are a few frames in the recent trailer that are new (it’s amazing how much the HBO can fit into a mere thirty-four seconds), and they’re worth discussing. The trailer most notably has a few new shots of Hardhome, a location which is never featured in the books through the point of view of a character, but looks to play an important part in Jon Snow’s story-line this season. We see what what looks to be a pretty intense battle, though who exactly is fighting whom is still a little unclear.

Wildlings vs. Wildlings? Wildlings vs. the Nights Watch? Wildlings and men of the Night’s Watch vs. White Walkers? A combination of all of those options? Who knows. We’ll have to wait and see. We also get some new shots of Ser Jorah in the fighting pit, but what’s really exciting is the extended look at….(No! Not Ramsay Bolton having sex! We’re to pretend we didn’t see that!) Jaime Lannister fighting in Dorne. There definitely seems to be a build-up to a pretty epic fight between Jaime and the Dornish, and it’s exciting to get a better look at it. Also of note is a  shot of a conflict between Brienne and an unknown adversary, but other than that all the other scenes in the teaser are ones we’ve seen in the trailer already. Not much to mull over, but enough to make you want more. Speaking of wanting more, there’s still time for another Game of Thrones trailer, and I for one am hoping for a third and final one to drop any day. If HBO is going to tempt us with the upcoming season, they should do it properly, not with some quick re-working of a trailer we’ve already seen. Hopefully, we’ll get a new trailer soon….and a new season a little later. Until then, we must be patient!
