HACKS will soon be back. A teaser trailer has dropped along with a brief press release. The Emmy-winning comedy series returns for its highly anticipated third season THURSDAY, MAY 2 on Max. The nine-episode season debuts with two episodes, followed by two new episodes each week, concluding with the season finale on May 30.
The last time we passed any comment on HACKS was back in 2022. We reviewed the second season and announced the green light for Season Three. That was way back in June of that year. Our writer had this to say back then –
“The show has been raking in accolades since season one including Emmy wins so it’s no surprise that HBO Max knows when it has a hit on their hands. The sweet yet often turbulent relationship between mentor Deb and mentee Ava (Hannah Einbinder) has swept us off our feet and even though season two ended the way it did, I see no reason that season three can’t bring these incredible ladies back together. I think we’re like to find that the two find it hard to stay away from each other given their chemistry and working bond. Birds of a feather flock together and I can’t see them staying away for long. They’re just too good together!”
Well, as that teaser proves, they do manage to bump into each other. We wouldn’t say they hit it off like old times, but you can’t dismiss the chemistry the characters and the actors have.
Our writer continued to say,
“I’m dying to see some more flashbacks of how everything went down with Deb’s ex and her sister. Deb’s going to have new opportunities ahead but what will she be interested in? Ava might find success writing in television but does it compare with the allure of writing stand-up jokes for Deb? We shall see.”
And we will not only see Jean Smart & Hannah Einbinder but the returning recurring cast plus new faces. The leading ladies will be alongside Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo. Joining them in Season Three are Helen Hunt (Mad About You, EMPIRE FALLS), Christina Hendricks (The Buccaneers, Mad Men), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Dan Bucatinsky (THE COMEBACK, Air), George Wallace (ARLISS, TEN-YEAR-OLD TOM), and Tony Goldwyn (Oppenheimer, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY and Designing Women, Jean Smarts 80’s sitcom ).
