TRUE DETECTIVE Adds Two More Names to Second Season

People_LolitaDavidovich-300x220Lolita Davidovich (pictured) and James Frain have been added to the sophomore season of TRUE DETECTIVE. That ups the quantity of notable names to the series considerably. In the inaugural season we were content with only three popular actors among the outstanding cast. They were, of course, Woody Harrelson, Matthew  McConaughey and Michelle Monaghan. Then we waited with baited breath for announcement of which stars would appear in season two. Lo and behold we learned that Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams filled the roles. Then noted actor Vince Vaughn snagged the villain role. Surely, that sounded like a workable cast for the main roles. But, now the aforementioned two are added.

We have learned that Davidovich (Gods and Monsters; The L Word and a memorable episode of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM) will play Taylor Kitsch’s mother Nancy Simpson, a girly girl, a former showgirl continually sucking on cigarettes and margaritas as she mourns the loss of male sexual attention. What little of her hopes remain she has transferred onto her adult son, who, in her eyes, is God’s gift to women. James Frain  (BBC America’s The Intruders; The White Queen and Franklin Mott in TRUE BLOOD; pictured) will play Jeff Hunt, a ruthless police lieutenant. He and the rest of the mentioned cast are joined by Kelly Reilly, Michael Irby, Abigail Spencer and Leven Rambin. People_JamesFrain-300x199

Davidovich’s role sounds just as interesting a role as Alexandra Daddario’s turn as Lisa Tragnetti from season one. She also brings to mind the Gillian Darmody character from BOARDWALK EMIPRE. She sounds like she should be real fun to watch. As for the Lt. Jeff Hunt character, a recognizable face in that role may indicate an important one to watch. Remember the key descriptive word above for the character is ‘ruthless’.

We can only hope the whole second season of TRUE DETECTIVE is just as ruthless, raw and exciting as the premiere season. The addition of these two fine actors can’t but aid in that attempt. HBOWatch is glued to what develops next. Keep an eye out for it right here, including where it fits on the schedule. Hey, at least filming is underway!
