TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY
The return of TRUE DETECTIVE. It has been a long time coming; the last time around with Mahershala Ali was back in January/February of 2019. Now, we are not going into the history of the series here, but HBOWatch has watched & analyzed each season all along, so you can easily catch up or refresh your mind by following this link. The good thing is, however, being an anthology series, each season stands alone.
The series is all about diverse detectives putting their respective skills to the test in order to solve a unique and difficult crime. We witnessed Cohle & Hart do it; Detective Velcoro after that and finally Detective Hays. Finally, we get to see Detectives Danvers & Navarro crack a case in the fourth installment of the acclaimed series. Now, we thought the teaser trailer we saw back in April set up the story pretty darn well, but now we have the full official trailer to take a gander at. It drops you into the situation and the tone of the work right away and it just ramps up our anticipation. See for yourself, if you haven’t already.
Wow! We get agitation between partners, tribal ties, imagery typing us back to Season One, pent-up anger unleashed, bone-chilling darkness, and a puzzle of frozen corpses. This is indeed TRUE DETECTIVE.
Issa López serves as showrunner, writer, and director. It is the first season without series creator Nic Pizzolatto as showrunner or writer, but he still serves as an executive producer. The six-episode HBO Original drama series starring Academy Award-winner and Emmy-nominated Jodie Foster and Kali Reis are joined by Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston (THE LEFTOVERS), Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes (DEADWOOD). It debuts SUNDAY, JANUARY 14 (9:00-10:00 pm ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
I don’t think you want to miss HBO’s first big series of 2024. Trust me, you don’t.
