That title, my friends, is not a typo. Two teams are slated for the HARD KNOCKS scrutiny in 2020 and they are – the Los Angles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers.
The information does not come from HBO but from ESPN. If all falls in place for a training season and its subsequent NFL season starting this Fall then southern California could be the right place to pull off a two-team season. How is that? Well, both teams will somehow be finagling their way through sharing the same stadium. The locale is the brand-spanking-new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Since they’ll share the venue NFL Films & HBO could camp out and focus on both teams quite easily.
The teams were no even the targeted teams this time around but with access to the new stadium available, a super-sized edition is a no-brainer. It wouldn’t be the first time for the Rams who were featured in 2016, the year they returned to L. A. from St, Louis. They went 9-7 and just missed the playoffs in 2019. The Chargers moved to L. A. from San Diego in 2017. They played in a separate stadium, until this season where they will rent the SoFi to play. The team was 5-11 last season.
If all goes well the NFL will have some sort of season this autumn perhaps without fans in the seats. Of course, it is all an unprecedented situation. America needs its football but it won’t be delivered in the same way necessarily. In fact, right now, professional football is setting up for a virtual NFL Draft. It is just too early to tell how it is all going to play out which is why an official notice regarding HARD KNOCKS hasn’t appeared yet. There are still too many uncertain factors yet to do that.
But if all is a go, perhaps NFL Films & HBO can pull off a special season of HARD KNOCKS like no other. Like everything else, we will see what the ‘new norm’ brings and for the official word from HBO.
