Coming soon to HBO is the limited series from Will Sharpe called LANDSCAPERS. We gave you a heads up on the work back in January 2020 which listed Olivia Colman as its lead. We haven’t heard a whit about the work until now. Evidently, it found time in amongst a pandemic to find a way in front of the camera and soon the 4-parter will make it to our screens. In anticipation of that pending premiere, HBO has dropped a few photos related to the work showing the leads in character. Seen with Colman is David Thewlis, Remis Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise. The series, which was written by Ed Sinclair, was originally reported to be directed and executive produced by Alexander Payne. In October 2020, Alexander Payne exited the project due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Will Sharpe.

Inspired by real events, the limited series tells a unique love story involving a seemingly ordinary British couple who become the focus of an extraordinary investigation when two dead bodies are discovered in the back garden of a house in Nottingham, England. Our prior post gives a bit more detail than that, but come on, we don’t want to spoil the plot here. Here are those photos:

So, some first impressions. Are the photos just a mix of color or is part of our story in B/W and parts in color? Is it delineating the present and the past, perhaps? Also, it seems to be that it will be a stylized work in some way because the first picture as imagery superimposed over Colman in the bed. And is that Thewlis in a nicer prison cell than most? Just some food for thought as we wait for LANDSCAPERS. Could it arrive in November or December of this year yet? We will keep you posted but these first images prove that the marketing engine for LANDSCAPERS has begun and more news should arrive momentarily.
