Do you remember the detective series CORMORAN STIKE? It took a few years for TRUE DETECTIVE to circle back around (though we take this moment to reiterate that NIGHT COUNTRY would have stood well enough on its own) but this British detective series is a bit more consistent. We are due for another case and Season Six is in the works. Our source states that the BBC and HBO detective drama began principal photography on February 12, with Tom Burke reprising his title role as the war veteran turned private detective, and that Holliday Grainger is also back as his business partner Robin Ellacott.

Fifteen installments across five seasons have been broadcast to date beginning back when Cinemax was airing original works. Each series has been adapted from novels by JK Rowling under the pseudonym Robert CormoranStrike-Pic2Galbraith. The titles to date are THE CUCKOO’S CALLING, THE SILKWORM, CAREER OF EVIL, LETHEL WHITE, and TROUBLED BLOOD. They are all curated on the streaming service Max.

To be added sometime later will be THE INK BLACK HEART. The crime in question? Edie Ledwell, an animator who co-created the successful cartoon “The Ink Black Heart” on YouTube which is now being adapted into a film on Netflix, visits Strike’s agency. She asks Robin to investigate the identity of Anomie, an online figure who co-created “Drek’s Game”, an online game based on Ledwell’s cartoon. The situation had escalated to harassment of the animator after she criticized the game. Robin refers Edie to another agency with more cybercrime experience, but she and Strike end up taking up the case when the animator mysteriously dies. It appears that Ledwell’s work came across as racist & transphobic ironically enough.

There is no word on casting and just one confirming image as of yet as the BBC gets rolling on the work to play out in the UK before it sees an HBO/Max debut likely in early 2025. If you’re a fan, stay tuned.
