We really don’t have much to say here about TRUE DETECTIVE Season Three that hasn’t already been said (just follow the link), but we know some are excited to see what the next installment of Nic Pizzolatto’s anthology series will offer. So, we thought it would be amiss if we didn’t mention that actress Carmon Ejogo was added to the cast.
If you recall the third season will take a different approach and single out the crime in question by examining it over three different time periods. In one timeline we will find Ejogo’s character. She will play Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980. She will likely be in the same timeline as our lead (and true) detective Mahershala Ali’s Wayne Hays. We learn here, with the reveal of her character, that the crime involves a kidnapping. We can be sure that the crime is not one of the run-of-the-mill snatching kids from the after-school playground but something more twisted than that. We eagerly await the tale.
Carmen Ejogo was born in Kensington, London, England, to a Nigerian father and a Scottish mother. Her television career began in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s with a Disney series. When she came to the U.S. she started in movies with both Eddie Murphy (Metro) and then Martin Lawrence (What’s the Worst That Could Happen)?. Big dramatic works came her way with Sally Hemings: An American Scandal as Thomas Jefferson’s mistress and as Coretta Scott King in both Ava DuVernay’s Selma and HBO Films: BOYCOTT. In that latter HBO work, she played off of WESTWORLD’s Jeffrey Wright (now her ex-husband) as MLK.
No official word on any other matter concerning the series yet, but as soon as we get other cast names and/or a premiere date we will pass it on. You also can count on us tearing apart and over-analyzing a teaser and/or trailer when they drop. Hopefully, more talk of TRUE DETECTIVE will rev up soon.
