Did you know that Chuck Lorre (Big Bang Theory, Dharma & Greg, Young Sheldon) and Charlie Sheen (Anger Management, Two and a Half Men) have finally put their differences aside? That is right, the pair are back in business, reuniting for Max’s comedy How To Be a Bookie!
Max’s New Gig
Although both Max and the Tv station WBTV initially declined to comment, we now have a little more information about what Lorre has in store for us with this new comedy (which, to be honest, promises to be as good if not better than his other work!).
We know that the series follows a struggling veteran bookie as he navigates the challenges of the impending sports gambling legalization. Add to it some intricate family dynamics and a growing list of unpredictable clients, and we definitely have a premise we can’t wait to see.
How To Be a Bookie is co-written by Lorre and Nick Bakay (Mom, Young Sheldon) and will take place in Los Angeles. The show will surely feature the highest and lowest corners of the city.
The cast that has been confirmed includes Sebastian Maniscalco as Danny, Vanessa Ferlito as Lorraine, Andrea Anders as Sanra, and Jorge García as Hector, among many others.
We should be able to see all eight episodes of How To Be a Bookie on Max. Charlie Sheen might not star in all of them, although we have had confirmation that he’s going to have a recurring role.
Why The Lorre-Sheen Duo Matters
Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen are no strangers to comedy – but they had been, for a while, estranged from each other.
Their eight-year collaboration in Two And a Half Men came to a halt in 2011, when Sheen (who had won four Emmy nominations for his role in the series) had a public meltdown that included some not-so-nice attack on Lorre. This led to his firing and a $100 million lawsuit against both the director and WBTV. The lawsuit was eventually settled, although few will ever forget Sheen claiming to possess tiger blood and stating he was actually a warlock.
Sheen had, since then, expressed regret over his exit. He had also mentioned he wanted to make amends with Lorre. Now, 12 years after the initial altercation, the pair has decided to work together again. As second chances go, this one is definitely not too bad! Hopefully, their amends will last.
How To Watch How To Be A Bookie
Unfortunately, we still have no release date for How To Be A Bookie – maybe because Sheen is still starring in the dramedy series Ramble On, by Entourage creator Doug Ellin. However, Max should soon announce the first episode! So, if you want to be ready for when that happens, make sure you get an account ASAP!

When will I be able to watch “HOW TO BE A BOOKIE”?
It is actually coming to Max on November 30. It will just be titled BOOKIE. We will have more about it in our upcoming “What’s On” post.
I can’t wait! I love Charlie Sheen & I’m glad they worked out their issues!
Then you’ll love the post we just dropped. Check it out to see the trailer.
I was going to write another installment in my longstanding Development Slate series that included this piece, but with the industry strikes and WBD just suspending development deals indefinitely I decided to kill the post and thus, mention of this work. With everything at a standstill and not knowing just how far in the process This work is along, who knows when it will premiere. It will be one to watch for.
