Just a quick note tonight that November 8th is HBO’s birthday each year. 41 years ago a small, unknown company began. Begining with movies and eventually turning into an Emmy-aquiring machine via several hit original series later in the network’s life. So if you’re out and about on this Friday night having a drink raise a glass to the best premium cable network in the world— think back to your favorite series whether it was The Wire, The Sopranos, Sex and the City or Game of Thrones.
Happy Birthday, Home Box Office. Party on.

Other then Documentry Films, HBO has largely become a joke of a network, with Netflix having over taken it.
Hi Robbie, still hate the world and everything in it?
And does anyone know what the first movie that aired on HBO was?
It was “Sometimes A Great Notion.”
How about the first sporting event?
It was an NHL game between the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks played at the Madison Square Garden. It aired after the movie.
It was not until September of 1975 that it went to satellite and started going national.
I know all this not because I looked it up but because I hail from the state in which HBO originated (Pennsylvania) and have been subscribing to it since those early days. Lucky me!
Jef Dinsmore: The internet’s only HBO historian :)
The internet has no historian, YOU IDIOT. Just morons who wrote horse dropping articles like the above one.
