HBO Original Series: No new series this month. The big draw, even though fewer audiences have tuned in for its third season, is HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. In Season 3 of the HBO Original series, the factions of House Targaryen engage in a war like no other. Rhaenyra seems poised for victory — with an army of dragons under her control, Aegon II fleeing the capital, and a fraught bargain struck with Alicent. But the balance of power shifts in unforeseen ways as loyalties fracture, bonds reshape, and unpredictable new players enter the fray. It all continues for the month beginning on SUNDAY, JULY 05 (9:00-10:00 pm ET./PT) with Episode 3. Of course, there are no descriptions or even episode titles to announce, but we can offer the following clips.
On Friday nights you can see the continuation of Larry David’s latest, LIFE, LARRY AND THE PURSUIT OF UNHAPPINESS. It keeps up on FRIDAY, JULY 03 (09:00-09:30 pm ET/PT). It is more of the same, with David doing his rant on everything and anything that disgruntled him. The only difference this time out is that he does so from within a highlighted moment from history. He places his grumbling tone in such moments as the Wright Brothers’ flight, the Lewis & Clark expedition, and the McCarthy hearings.
Both LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER and REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER are on hiatus for most of the month. Oliver’s show returns SUNDAY, JULY 26 (11:00-11:40 pm) and Maher’s on FRIDAY, JULY 31 (10:00-11:00 pm).
Original Series Exclusive to HBO Max:
The biggest new title out there is HBO Max’s attempt to find a new major comedy series after HACKS ended. It submits for your consideration: STUART FAILS TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE. The ten-episode series debuts THURSDAY, JULY 23 at 9:00 pm ET/PT and will be available to stream on HBO Max. New episodes will debut subsequent Thursdays. Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well. The series stars Kevin Sussman (Stuart), Lauren Lapkus (Denise), Brian Posehn (Bert), and John Ross Bowie (Barry). The series, from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, is created, written, and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady. Kyle Newacheck is executive producer and directs multiple episodes.
HBO International Titles: Representing our International content for the month is the 11-part dramatic series titled DEEP REVENGE. Nozomi thought she had been living a happy life with her 
husband, Ryoichi, until she got involved in an accident during a trip while pregnant. Upon waking, Nozomi finds out that four years have passed and she had a stillbirth. Not only that, her husband, Ryoichi, has already divorced her and is currently married to Mido Erika, the heiress of a major corporation. While Nozomi tries to accept the reality, she discovers that the accident was a plan by Ryoichi and Erika to kill her. Determined to get her revenge, Nozomi changes her name and appearance and infiltrates their home as the “most terrifying housekeeper”. This story, from Japan, unfolds beginning FRIDAY, JULY 03.
HBO & HBO Max Theatrical Movies: The new movies in play are Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, The Long Walk, Marc by Sofia, The Land of Sometimes and The Drama.
Here’s a creepy one that just slipped onto the schedule a day ago. It is LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY. This Warner Bros. title debuts on SATURDAY, JULY 04 (8:00-10:17 pm ET/PT) and makes its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max the night prior. The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them. However, what should be a joyful reunion soon turns into a living nightmare as she starts to transform into something truly horrifying. The next title, THE LONG WALK, arrives on HBO on SATURDAY, JULY 11 (8:00-9:50 pm ET/PT) and on HBO Max the night prior. From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of some of the The Hunger Games franchise films, comes this intense, chilling, and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go? Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Josh Hamilton, with Judy Greer and Mark Hamill star.
From A24 comes our next title, a documentary film entitled simply MARC BY SOPHIA. It is an intimate, unconventional portrait of Marc Jacobs, crafted by Sofia Coppola to capture the genius and singular universe of the iconic American designer. It uploads to HBO Max on THURSDAY, JULY 16. On SATURDAY, JULY 18 (8:00-9:33 pm ET/PT), and on HBO Max the night prior is the animated adventure THE LAND OF SOMETIMES. In this one, twins Alfie and Elise find a magical Wish Watch on Christmas Eve and are swept by the Wish Collector into the musical Land of Sometimes, where they learn that wishes have consequences. It stars the voice talents of Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter and Mel Brooks.
The final title of the month arrives on the last day of the month. Uploading to the streaming service on FRIDAY, JULY 31 is THE DRAMA. It will likely be the Saturday night movie on HBO to lead off August. A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. Starring Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Hailey Benton Gates. Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli.
HBO Documentary Films: Since its beginning in 1986, Burning Man has grown from its anarchic counterculture roots in San Francisco to a globally recognized spectacle. Each year, 80,000 self-styled “Burners” congregate in the Nevada desert to create music, art, and connection, raise temples, join a spiritual movement centered on community, and take part in a modern American cultural experiment. Following the organization through several years of unprecedented turmoil, THE MAN WILL BURN follows a movement pushed to its limits as it strives to stay operational while staying true to its core values. It rolls out as a four-part documentary series beginning on THURSDAY, JULY 09 (9:00-10:00 pm ET/PT).
HBO Max Kids & Family: A couple titles to share here. New installments from IYANU: THE WAR OF TWIN PRINCES and BATWHEELS come in July.
HBO Sports: Plenty of live sports play on the streamer. Check out hockey, baseball, soccer, wrestling and more.
Other Shows On HBO or HBO Max: Two big imports land from across WBD’s portfolio. On HBO Max, you can catch some big bites from the latest Shark Week event, and Adult Swim presents an animated spin-off. Headlined by Emmy Award-winning actor Keith David, PRESIDENT CURTIS will debut July 26 at 11:30 pm ET/PT on Adult Swim, immediately following the Rick and Morty season finale. Episodes will be available to stream the next day, MONDAY, JULY 27, on HBO Max. The series follows President Andre Curtis (David) and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kinds of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with – from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.
