With just a little more than a month to go until the Season Two premiere of Westworld, HBO has been busy hyping everyone up for their newest hit series.  In addition to their over-the-top interactive experienceWestworld was well represented at the media festival SXSW, with a panel that offered several interesting hints as to what we can expect from Season Two. First up, it looks as if the “Samurai World,” we glimpsed suggestions of in the final moments of the last season is definitely going to be explored in Season Two, although it seems the proper nomenclature is “Shogun World.”

Introducing the concept of other, similarly expansive parks besides Westworld will do wonders for the show’s already impressive world-building, and it is always a fascinating source of conflict when isolated communities with different perspectives and points of view have to come together. Assuming the android cowboys team up with the samurais against the larger “human threat,” it reminds me a bit of the various unlikely allegiances various groups have been forced to make in Game of Thrones in order to combat the White Walkers, allowing for character interactions that have always been very interesting to watch play out.

Speaking of playing things out, there is apparently now an official Westworld mobile game open for pre-registration. Rather chillingly suggesting that we “Don’t play games. Play God,” the game allows you to simulate being in charge of  Westworld and is sure to appeal to both your sadistic and syndicate sensibilities, so be sure to keep an eye out for its release.

HBO also recently released some brand new promotional pictures of Season Two on Westworld‘s official Twitter account. Not surprisingly, while tantalizing, they don’t offer much new information about the upcoming season. We do see several new characters (although none of the samurai variety), and of course, lots of familiar faces– Maeve has discovered business attire, along with some form of sentience, and even Dolores has accessorized with a very deadly ammunition bandolier.

With Westworld premiering fairly soon, it seems likely that HBO will drop another trailer in the coming weeks. In the meantime, keep checking back with us for the latest Westworld news.
