We almost forgot that we were going to get to revisit Watergate on HBO with THE WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS. The work, starring Woody Harrelson (TRUE DETECTIVE) as E. Howard Hunt & Justin Theroux (THE LEFTOVERS) as G. Gordon Liddy, has just popped back in the news in a unique way. Northern New York State newspapers are announcing casting calls for locals as extras for the limited series which is filming in the Empire State.
Yeah, we do not often field reports of this nature to tip us off that HBO productions are up and running, but such is the case with this one. The Poughkeepsie Journal, Daily Freeman and the Hudson Valley Post are all announcing the need for background players for the show. This announcement lets us know that the production will be filming on location in the Hudson Valley region starting in May 2021. According to Laurent Rejto, director of the Hudson Valley Film Commission, the shoot is set for “at least six months.”
Since THE WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS takes place in the early 1970’s vintage locations, or places that can be redesigned, are sought. Not only are the casting of locals of interest but the production also wants to find period vehicles to fit the era. The Hudson Valley region is a hot spot for filming; THE UNDOING and I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE both filmed there.
So, since productions have been greatly delayed since the pandemic and news about certain HBO projects has been scarce, we thought we’d jump on this news as a way of confirming that this program is indeed in production. So, now you know.

This show is never being released. Clearly something went wrong.
Perhaps, we will confirm one way or another.
