As its slogan “Where HBO meets so much more” suggests, HBO Max represents the merging of HBO’s famously high-caliber content with a larger library of binge-worthy offerings for all ages. Those who subscribe to HBO Max can watch HBO’s vast library of quality content. For example, HBO Max is the only place that you can watch shows like Raised By Wolves.

What About HBO Now & HBO Go?

HBONowHBOGo-300x174Up until the summer of 2020, the apps HBO Now and Go both offered access to HBO’s library of TV series, movies, and documentaries.

After the debut of HBO’s comprehensive new streaming service, HBO Max, HBO retired the HBO Go app. Those who wish to stream HBO’s library of content online without gaining access to the diverse offerings available through HBO Max can still subscribe to HBO Now under its new name— HBO. This app can be installed on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

With the HBO or HBO Max apps, anyone, anywhere can access streams of  Watchmen, True Blood, The Plot Against America, True Detective, Girls, HBO Docs, the GOT prequel, House of the Dragon, and all of HBO’s other hit series. A subscription is only $15 per month.

Older HBO Shows are Streaming on Amazon Prime

If you’re an Amazon Prime member and you’re trying to watch an older HBO show like The Sopranos or Sex and the City stop what you’re doing and head over there now because older HBO shows stream free with a Prime subscription. You get a free month when you sign up so there’s really no excuse not to when you factor in the free shipping on Amazon stuff as well as the large streaming video library. Give it a try.

Other Ways to Live Stream HBO Content

“Free,” pirated streams of HBO shows and films are unauthorized and usually low resolution. They are more likely to get you in legal trouble or infect your computer with viruses than actually allow you to enjoy the show that you are trying to watch.

You don’t want to experience Game of Thrones or Boardwalk Empire on an unofficial, non-HD streaming site surrounded by crazy, russian-bride ads do you? What about John OliverReal Time with Bill Maher, Animals or Vice? You don’t want to taint that experience.

Give one of the legal, legit methods above a try instead of pirating HBO’s content.

I just watched a show about the social divide in New York City. The time was 11 Am on the 27 of 07, 21. Can someone tell me where I can find this program? I missed part of it and I did not get the name. I just found what I saw very interesting hearing what some young people living there had to say. It was about the rich and the not-so-rich. And I would like to see the whole thing again.

Sorry based on what you’ve given us we cannot figure it out. One, by the way you wrote the date you are European? We do not have a listing for UK or European HBO schedules. On the U. S. schedule for that date and time (or even for allowing for a time difference) we see nothing that corresponds with what you seek.

the video quality of game of thrones is awful. You can’t get a steady stream on the 1st airing so either your picture freezes every several seconds or you have to wait 1 hour. Bill Maher is still not on several hours after it aired. $15 per month isn’t worth it. You can find it free online after shows air and the quality may even be better.

HBOMAX NO LONGER PROVIDES LIVE ACCESS -UNLESS YOUR TV, CABLE SUPPLIER SUPPORTS HBO LIVE- THIS INCLUDES HBONOW

Neither did we. subscribed to it for decades. As of September 14- when Amazon dropped our subscription- No more Live streams from the app, unless your streaming provider supports HBOMAX. No Amazon, No Roku- our options. Since my only requirement is John Oliver (ok maybe Bill Maher sometimes) it’s not worth going through my cable/internet provider- Spectrum/Charter- (they are raping us as it is). I advise EVERYONE to be aware of this. I found out Sunday Night at Last Week Tonight time. I’m deciding what to do. Keep it and watch the next day, or save 15.00 each month and watch whatever highlights I can on other people’s shows. He is SO damn smart, good , and self deprecating!

I was wanting to do the 1 month free and then subscribe but it’s not working. You guys should fix this glitch!!! Very disappointed and angry. I have excellent internet and EVERYTHING ELSE STREAMS FINE. Not my problem. I did all the troubleshooting on both their website multiples times. I do tech support ans this is a poor product and poor customer service. I will just rent the DVDs, very reliable.

if you mean on hbo now, on your device or smart tv, there will be a tile to click on to take you to the shows. If your tv is wi fi enabled, you can go through the website on your computer and windows 10 lets you use wi fi to send a duplicate screen to the tv. I am using the free month and am disappointed though that the video quality is low. You can find it free online. you can’t get a steady stream watching on the 1st airing and 2 weeks in a row, it is hours after bill maher aired and it still is not posting on hbo now. Try the free month from the website and see if it can work for you.

Reply

I would have to disagree. A lot of low ratings on amazon.com. 2000+ reviews and more than half of them are 1-2 stars for HBO Now because of internet issues. I couldn’t even figure out how to install it because its so poorly organized. I want to watch it on my xbox but it keeps trying to download to my phone. That is kind of counterintuitive since I first applied for it on my xbox and am not provided with the option to install from there. I havent personally tried the service but based on the prevailing opinion and my poor experience with HBO NOw installation, I prefer to add it to my cable subscription. It only costs a little more but is much less of a hassle.

I contacted their customer service because their streaming constantly was buffering and pixelated. I had mentioned that I read their suggested article on trouble shooting and found it to be unhelpful, because I have never had a problem with streaming amazon video or netflix in the same high definition qualities. I received a response in the form of the same article that I articulated was not helpful. Extremely disappointed in their poor streaming service and even poorer customer service. There are plenty of “free” streaming sites that have their content, and I am happy to no longer financially support a business that is this incompetent.

On Surface with windows 8.1 you will need to use a browser other than IE. It appears as though there is an issue that prevents logging in. Try Firefox or chrome. Even with Firefox video stops several times per minute to buffer. HBO needs to create a dedicated Windows App. or stop using Adobe Flash.

I am signed up for HBO Now, and I think it’s awesome HBO is moving in this direction. However, even as a member of HBO Now, torrenting may still still be preferable, due to unreliable internet connection speed, and not being able to watch offline (while commuting on subway, etc).

I hope HBO, Netflix, etc. wake up to the fact that “streaming” services are not such a great idea because of these issues, and they really need to offer pre-downloads for offline viewing.

I’m so so confused. Can someone please let me know if I can use HBO GO on my Windows 7 laptop without using another device in the process? I’ve searched Google and everything that pops up is outdated and no longer useful information.

Alternatively, if I have access to a Kindle (not a new one) can I sign up using it and then stream on my laptop, without having to use the Kindle anymore?

I feel like HBO really fumbled this. I literally cannot find out, anywhere on the HBOGO site let alone the entire rest of the internet, if it’s possible to purchase and stream HBO GO from a laptop or PC. It’s a bit of a problem for interested would-be customers.

Reply
Ben the Cable Guy August 8, 2015 - 3:01 pm

All you need to do is log in through your cable provider, unless you’re talking about HBO Now which you have to purchase through Apple or Android which is pretty stupid of HBO in my opinion.

Reply
foxmolder August 10, 2015 - 6:00 am

Yeah I meant Now, not Go. HBO sucks at this. Evidently it’s because instead of providing NOW themselves, HBO is using this absurd outside-provider model, and I guess no provider has decided it’s worthwhile to let people sign-up unless they get to sell them (or have already recently sold them) an overpriced smart-phone or e-reader or some other piece of ‘smart’ technology in the process. Amazon is offering the service now, but, of course, you need a Kindle.

Reply

HBO NOW will run on anything. The subscription process is basically just a pay-wall used by the various providers (Apple, Amazon, Verizon ect). I’ve read that after you sign-up you can watch it on any PC/Laptop, but I wouldn’t count on not having to return back to your subscribed device for some absurd update or renewal process or some other nonsense.

I called customer service support & was told that Samsung Smart TV does not support any Apple device. I think Apple sued & won a lawsuit against Samsung in early 2015? The Samsung customer service Rep said that the Samsung Smart TV does not support HBO NOW. The Samsung Smart TV March 2015 update adversely impacted my ability to connect to Amazon Prime Subscription & Netflix. I was unaware of the Samsung Smart TV UpDate until I called Samsung customer support. It took me several phone calls & a couple of hours to reformat my Samsung Smart TV in order to get adequate internet connection. I wish I had purchased a different brand of Smart TV. Not happy with Samsung.

I subscribe to HBO through Glenwood Communications in southern Nebraska. It’s aggravating enough that I pay so much money for standard definition on a premium digital fiber optic cable system, but now, just to add insult to injury, I’ve found out that I can’t get HBO GO because Glenwood doesn’t support it. So much for HBO’s claim that HBO GO is free with your cable subscription to HBO. Obviously, some exceptions apply. I wanted to show my family Angels In America last night, and after a lot of introduction and getting everyone excited, I found out we can’t get HBO GO here in the hinterlands when I hit the “Play” button on my AppleTV. I have Charter Cable for Internet and Amazon Prime; and through Charter, I have HBO. When you go to activate HBO for prime it doesn’t list Charter as a provider. I call Charter, they said it is listed even though it’s not and they say to call HBO which is quite impossible since I can find no number for HBOtogo. HORRIBLE customer support!

Reply
Jef Dinsmore May 26, 2015 - 3:14 pm

I don’t know what the confusion is about. Charter is listed in the pull down menu of providers. It is the sixth one listed in the C’s in the list.

You must first have a logon in account with Charter before HBOGo can recognize you as a Charter subscriber.

Reply

This is a really great suggestion but I don’t think any HBO product supports it right now. The only thing you could really do is cough up the 5-10$ for a few episodes on Amazon or iTunes and download them.

Wish they’d have a “Save for Offline” feature like Spotify but it is much harder to do with 2GB movies and such.

Download the shows you want from your computer then transfer the shows to your phone. That way you do not use any data and still get your enjoyment while your going anywhere. I have a Samsung Galaxy 5S mini and I just put my movies on there and I have no issues. Hopefully this helps?

I don’t know about you, but the Internet in my neck of the woods is very sluggish this evening. It took an effort for HBOGo to completely load for me, but it did. I even selected your provider link and got it to come up also.

If all sites for you are slow than maybe atmospheric issues are to blame tonight. Try it again.

1. Go to the HBO Go website
2. Click on Sign in
3. Find AT&T Uverse in the list of providers
4. Sign in with your AT&T Uverse account credentials
5. Providing that you’re subscribed to HBO on AT&T Uverse (Which to my understanding is the U450 package), the HBO Go site will load and you will be able to watch your favorite HBO series online at no extra cost

When I try to sign in to my account on my desktop it goes to the HBO NOW home page without signing me in, I have tried many times. Any thoughts?
