large-300x187Game of Thrones, True Blood and Curb Your Enthusiasm just aren’t enough for US Attorney General Eric Holder.  Sure, Treme is great but is it the Baltimore-based, hard-hitting  HBO cop drama?  No it is not!  On Tuesday he summoned three actors from the show; Wendell Pierce, Sonja Sohn and Jim True-Frost to promote a new anti-drug public relations campaign at the Justice Department.  That’s when Mr. Holder decided to try and save the show single-handedly…

“I want to speak directly to [Co-creator Ed] Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of The Wire.  That’s actually at a minimum. … If you don’t do a season, do a movie.  We’ve done HBO movies, this is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.”

Wedell Pierce, who plays Detective Bunk Moreland supposedly shouted “Hear, Hear!” after the AG’s statement.

HBOWatch has heard of nothing indicating a return of The Wire to HBO but we would of course welcome it back with open arms!  While this incident is most likely tounge and cheek we’ll let you know of any pending legal action aiming to get the show back on the air.  Hey… you do what you’ve got to do to get our show back, Mr. Holder.  We won’t say a thing.
