Sunday is the biggest night for HBO and right now it is airing THE LEFTOVERS and o PROJECT GREENLIGHT at 9:00pm and 10:00pm respectively. Last week, however was the Season Two finale of DOLL & EM. In that show the leading ladies, played by Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, were still struggling to get a play up and running. There is no word yet if they will see a Season Three.
Taking up the 10:30 position then is an encore run of Season One of TOGETHERNESS by Jay and Mark Duplass. It is an eight episode run totaling four hours to start this Sunday, 10.25. If you have yet to see the critically acclaimed show catch the repeat play or find it on HBONow/Go.
Written, directed and executive produced by Jay and Mark Duplass TOGETHERNESS is a comedic look at four middle-aged people reconciling their dreams with their current personal and professional lives in Los Angeles.
Brett (Mark Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie Lynskey) are a married couple in their mid-late 30s struggling to adapt their relationship to the pressures of parenthood. Brett’s best friend is Alex (Steve Zissis), an overweight, out-of-work actor debating if he still has a shot at being successful. Alex connects with Michelle’s sister, Tina (Amanda Peet), a free spirit grappling with being single and getting older. Each adult fights to sustain his or her own passion without skirting responsibility. As the two couples find themselves living under one roof, ‘Togetherness’ explores the significance behind every day moments.
Sadly, these people are together, but not Together. Alex & Tina don’t have to be, but they really should be and Brett and Michelle were (and have children to prove it) but are growing apart and failing to communicate and understand each other. We liked it enough to review Season One. Here, just relive this Buzz clip and the series Sunday nights. Oh, and be on the lookout for TOGETHERNESS returning in 2016!
