Mike White is no dummy. He has created a show that allows him to globe-trot anywhere across the planet where there is likely to be a White Lotus resort. I don’t know if this is true or not, but wouldn’t it be funny if White had spent his downtime during his stint on Survivor, which films in Fiji, dreaming up the premise for THE WHITE LOTUS? While he was out there in the thick of raw nature, starving for stick-to-your-ribs sustenance, could he have imagined being catered to at a posh resort? And, while we are running on that thought, could he imagine that his concept would become a hit HBO show that generated film shoots in Hawaii and Sicily? And would he think he could take its third season to…Southeast Asia?
That’s right, it has been revealed that Season Three of THE WHITE LOTUS is bound for Thailand. Now, some great detective work has been done to help narrow down the actual location shoot for the upcoming season. in the prior two seasons of the show, the production was set up at a Four Seasons resort. Variety figured out that, “it’s possible that Season 3 will take place at one of the luxury hotel giant’s four properties in Thailand, which are located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle. Thailand’s Four Seasons resorts are spread across the city, country, jungle and beach, giving White plenty of settings to play with, if he so chooses.” Yeah, can you imagine a season set here?
White did allude to that fact back at the conclusion of season two. He stated, “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.” Thailand seems like an ideal exotic location to explore those themes as it has temples and monks aplenty across its landscape. The big question now is, who can replace Tanya McQuoid, personified by Jennifer Coolidge, on this vacation trip?
The production is just not at that stage to reveal that just yet. Along with the new locale, there will be a new cast and a fresh plot. We will keep you up to date, but it is never too early to make plans for your next vacation at a White Lotus resort.

Yeah? I don’t know why. It is MIKE White, of course. I’ve known him since HBO’s ENLIGHTENED in 2011. I corrected my error; if I need a good excuse, I think I wrote this one late at night. yeah, that’s it. Thanks for catching it.
