TheLeftovers_titleWe have been finding any excuse to bring up THE LEFTOVERS Season Two. It is such a mystery on how the sophomore season is going to play out that it has this writer a bit excited. We already know that the Garvey family changes locale and that the casting list has changed. Now we note new members to the cast. As previously reported we mentioned an African-American family –

they meet a family who will become the new supporting cast. The show is adding an African-American family made up of the righteous John Murphy; his hearing-impaired doctor wife, Erika; and their teenage kids, Evie, an athletic extrovert, and Michael, a devout Christian.

People_ReginaKingThe role of John Murphy is to be played by Kevin Carroll (Law & Order:SVU) and Regina King (American Crime, pictured) will play Erika Murphy, a doctor who runs the local urgent care in town. The son Michael is played by young British actor Jovan Adepo, but daughter Evie still remains a mystery at this time. Also cast though is Darius McCrary (AKA Family Matters‘ Eddie) who is to guest star/recur as Isaac Rayney, a local palm reader and childhood friend of John’s.

The Murphy family will live next door to the Garvey family when they relocate to a Texas town. John Murphy is the head of the local volunteer fire department. From what has been seen so far on THE LEFTOVERS I say it is a good idea for the Garvey’s to be friends with a firefighter and a doctor. Come on, blazes have been known to happen and Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) always seems to get roughed up a bit. Also note that the male members of the Murphy family are labeled as Christian and from what we’ve seen they are not the dominate faith after the Sudden Departure. Rev. Jamison’s (Christopher Eccleston) storyline is a testament to that. But, perhaps in Texas things are different. We shall see.

THE LEFTOVERS has not had a confirmed premiere date yet, but we hope it has a spot this fall.
