We’ll be truthful in saying that there is not a lot to say at this time about Season Three of EUPHORIA. A continuation of the story is a long time in coming, but production is now underway. One actor from the show, however, Sydney Sweeney, has been talking it up already. She plays Cassandra “Cassie” Howard on the show, just one of the troubled souls in the series. One of the details we do know about the upcoming season is that it takes place a few years later than when we last saw them all. How does Cassie fare? Well, Sweeney points out that her character really isn’t any better; she’s “crazier”, and the series is more “unhinged” than ever.

Here are some highlights from an interview with Empire the actress had recently. Obviously, she could not reveal great plot details.

Empire: What is it like to return to Cassie after three years?

Sweeney: I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear. She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She’s flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is. Sam [Levinson] is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with, because I’ll read something, then I’ll call him, and I’m like, “Let’s go crazier.” And he’s like, “I’m all in.” And this season is unhinged.

Empire: More unhinged?SydneySweeney_EuphoriaPic

Sweeney: (Laughs) Yes.

Empire: Playing Cassie in Euphoria has been huge for you, and changed your life. Do you think it fixed an idea of who you are in the public eye?

Sweeney: It definitely changed my life, yeah. I think that with the amount of access, with social media, and how much content gets put out there of Cassie… People do have a hard time separating actors from their characters, and especially someone like Cassie, where she is hated and she’s loved, but she’s definitely a complicated character. And so I think that that could confuse people, for sure. But if they’re hating me for decisions that my character is making, then I’m playing the character correctly.

Yes, you can’t argue with that. She must be playing the character correctly. Sometime in 2026, we will get reminded yet again how well she is doing with that. After a long wait, we hope people will still be drawn to EUPHORIA. If you want to find out more about Sydney Sweeney and her career, check out the interview in full with Empire here. The same sort of rhetoric happened over on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon recently.

We await EUPHORIA on HBO in 2026.
