People_SnoopDogg-205x300Yes, you read that right – Snoop Dogg. Actually he is a fan of HBO, don’t ya know? He has appeared on REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER, done soundtrack work for OZ, ENTOURAGE and THE WIRE plus is on the GAME OF THRONES Mixtape II wit “Lannister’s Anthem” and made the video “Oh Sookie” about everyone’s favorite fairy on TRUE BLOOD. He is looking to add the job of producer to those credits at the big network with a potential drama.

Director/producer Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, Gang Related and writer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) are linking up with the Dogg to create an untitled drama which will be set in early 1980s Los Angeles CA and centers on a family dealing with the heavy politics and social ills in that neck of the woods. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., grew up in southern LA back then and will seemingly draw on his own observations from the day for this project.

Dogg disclosed the information at a speech given at the SXSW festival recently. He is quoted as saying –

“HBO is the No. 1 network in the world as far as developing and having these types of shows come to life. This is a dream come true to be able to tell a story that’s going to be told the right way on the right network.”

We will keep an eye on this one and see if it comes to fruition. But, while we are at it lets have some fun with Snoop Dogg. For starters let us say man, he is tall. Look how he overflows from that throne above. It wouldn’t be right to talk about Snoop Dogg and not offer up some music. The link above already takes you to a past post of ours featuring Dogg’s love of Miss Stackhouse so it only seems right, courtesy of YouTube, to give you a dose of “Lannister’s Anthem” plus, check out his take on the Khaleesi.

When I first read that Snoop Dog was in talks with HBO for some sort of series, I thought, well, good for him. Talk about multitasking and networking in different realms. After all, who could blame him for being a fan of HBO? They produce some of the most riveting shows and documentaries. The fact that he now wants to be known as Snoop Lion lets you know where his loyalties lie in Westeros.
