HBO’s is already eyeing what is coming in the new year. That includes another round with Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church as Frances and Robert DuFrene in DIVORCE. The show will make itself back around in January 2018. Joining the leads again are Molly Shannon as Diane, Frances’ high-strung friend, who has a successful husband, a beautiful house and no children; Talia Balsam as Dallas, Frances’ close friend, who has been both widowed and divorced; Tracy Letts as Nick, Diane’s husband; Sterling Jerins as Lila, Frances’ and Robert’s daughter; and Charlie Kilgore as Tom, their son. Season Two finds Frances and her now ex-husband, Robert dealing with the aftermath of their explosive separation and learning to rebuild their lives. Here is the recently dropped teaser.
It is official, the divorce papers are signed. Now what? It is time to move on starting with Robert shaving his mustache off and Frances looking for a bright future. However, they are, in Frances’ own words, “separately together.” Don’t forget they share children and mutual friends. Just how they deal is what Season Two will reveal to us.
What is not a go is a third movie on the “Sex and the City” franchise. The internet is abuzz with words exchanged back and forth regarding what killed the chances of Carrie Bradshaw and her lady friends in another cinematic foray. In a quote, seen on several websites, (we pull ours from here) SJP said the following:
“It’s over. We’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”
She is being polite there as there has been trash talk about what really derailed the plans for SJP, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis to work together again. Cattrall, who played Samantha, was accused of making Diva demands before she’d sign a contract and now it is just a she said/he said back and forth. Willie Garson, who played Stanford weighed in. Regardless of whether that is true or not the bickering has tainted the relationships and the movie is not going forward.
Are you okay with saying a final goodbye to Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte? At least you got reruns and SJP in DIVORCE!
