There is plenty happening on HBO and we at HBOWatch try to cover it all. So, with that in mind, there is one such offering that warrants some attention this weekend. It is HBO Films: BEHIND THE CANDELEBARA, which premieres in place of GAME OF THRONES, VEEP & FAMILY TREE Sunday night (05.26) at 9:00pm.

To get you in the mood for this glitzy bio-drama about entertainer Liberace and his tumultuous relationship with Scott Thorson here are some TnT’s (Teases/Trailers) that  contain good background information. We start with “An Invitation To The Set.”

There is really no surprise here. It is all about the relationship. It is based on the memoir of Scott Thorson as he became involved with the over-the-top entertainer.

The best background information is really contained in the “Making of Behind the Candelabra” featurette that aired earlier this month on HBO. At 14:01 it gives an in-depth look at the characters involved and the cast & crew that makes this story happen. The best part, for those who have little clue on who Liberace was, may be a look at the man himself and his opulent tastes.

We’ll give you two more clips only because they have comments from the leads Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.

Here is a fun one!

Actually, just like the excessive Liberace himself, there are a number of other video clips to see. There are interviews with Matt DamonRob Lowe and Debbie Reynolds as well as the film’s presence at the Cannes Film Festival and about a dozen others clips.

We think, however, that the ones offered here should be adequate in setting the mood and tone of the film. HBO Films: BEHIND THE CANDELABRA written by Richard LaGravenese and directed by Stephen Soderberg makes its sparkly splash on the screen 05.26. Check back with HBOWatch for a review and see whether we find it over the top!

You’re an epic idiot. You obviously do not have the brain power to comprehend how good this biopic is, too lost in a fictional sword fighting soap opera world like a 70’s housewife.
