GETTING ON, a new HBO comedy series from Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer (creators of the acclaimed HBO series “Big Love”), begins its six-episode season SUNDAY, NOV. 24 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT). Based on the hit British series, the show is set in the women’s extended-care facility of a Long Beach hospital and follows the daily lives of put-upon nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system. Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein, Niecy Nash and Mel Rodriguez star; guests stars include Molly Shannon, Daniel Stern, Harry Dean Stanton, June Squibb and Irma P. Hall.
The debut of GETTING ON will be followed immediately by the previously announced debut of the new HBO comedy series “Ja’mie: Private School Girl,” starring Chris Lilley.

Great series and cast loved every minute of it. Hope it returns!!
One of the few shows I can enjoy watching more than once. Perfect for making treadmill time fly by. Laurie Metcalf is great on Broadway and even better with the rest of the superb cast on Getting On. Please continue the series.
I hope there is going to be a second season!!!!!!
This show is an absolute hoot! It is a laugh out loud series for sure!
I hope there is a second series, as the writers are fabulously skilled!
both the new shows are fantastic, BUT getting on is an absolute riot, i has tears in my eyes and almost peed in my pants. i was an r.n.. for 30 years and i could relate in every way.. i immediately called bot my sisters who are also nurses….WAY TO GO HBO
I cannot wait to see this! I have worked in the long term care industry as an Rn… Supervisor, and the last 5 or 6 years as an Assistant Director of Nursing… I have always said it would be hilarious to write a book about our trials and tribulations on the job… Of course to do that would violate the privacy of all involved. I hope the show does well.
They need a social worker we take as much abuse in long term care as nurses do lol
What do you think this means for the future of family tree?
Hmm well we know that the makers of Family Tree WANT another series. With that one I think it’s mostly up to HBO/BBC and whether or not they can stomach the lowish ratings for another season. I hope the DVD and Blu-Rays do well, they might be waiting on those to make a decision. HBO is willing to take risks on good programming like this but at the very least it can’t be losing money with very few viewers. Go buy the DVDs if you want to help the cause :)
