HBOWatch Editors were not able to line-up a writer to review TAMMY, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to draw your attention to the R-rated comedy playing on HBO.TAMMY premieres on Saturday, 03.14 and will air the following dates on the main channel: 03.15 at 2:30am & 6:15pm; 03.18 at 9:00pm & 3:15am; 03.20 at 10:00am & 9:00pm; 03.24 at 12:40am & 5:00pm; 03.26 at 9:00pm; 03.29 at 8:15am & 8:00pm and 03.31 at 2:05am as well as on HBOGo.

Melissa McCarthy co-wrote and stars in this off-beat comedy/drama about a frustrated, hard-working Midwesterner who, after losing her job and catching her husband with another woman, decides to hit the road with her randy, hard-drinking grandmother. The movie co-stars Susan Sarandon, Mark Duplass of TOGETERNESS, Allison Janney, Kathy Bates, Gary Cole, Dan Aykroyd and Sandra Oh (remember her when she was on ARLI$$?). Rotten Tomatoes describes it this way:

Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint and, instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option-with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

The question is do you need to watch TAMMY? Well, maybe you do if you are a Melissa McCarthy fan. Maybe the trailer will help you decide?

Does McCarthy’s TAMMY interest you? Again, it might only if you are a fan of her work. Some people are and some people find her highly over-rated. On the other hand this movie has enough named co-stars to possibly help the piece along. If you watch TAMMY on HBO this month stop back here and rate it for us. We’d love to hear what you think.
