We give you the trailer right off the bat for this one because BRING HER BACK is just so visually creepy!

So, in this 104-minute movie from Australia, two step-siblings find themselves orphaned and placed in the middle of an occult ritual by their new foster mother. The film is directed by Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou. Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman. It stars Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, and Sally Hawkins.

Movies_BringHerBack-Pic1-300x174Let’s delve a bit more into the nastiness that is this horror flick, shall we? 17-year-old Andy (Barratt) and his sight-impaired stepsister Piper (Wong), after the death of their father (Stephen Phillips), are sent to live with Laura (Hawkins), an eccentric former counselor who has fostered other young people in the past. She seems like a kind-hearted person able to connect with youth. Andy becomes unsettled by Laura’s strange behavior with another foster child in the home named Oliver (Wren Phillips). It seems he is associated with the matron in odd rituals in the hopes of resurrecting Laura’s deceased daughter. Occult creepiness seems to be at the heart of all of it.

Is the element of dark arts acceptable and believable in BRING HER BACK? Does Laura successfully use Oliver to bring back the deceased daughter, and what does Andy and/or Piper’s involvement entail? Or, perhaps they’re not readily involved but have the inclination to thwart the demonic efforts? Who prevails?

You’ve got to watch it to find out. It debuted on HBO on Saturday, October 04, and can be found on the various channels, or it is ready to play on HBO Max. Note that the movie has been favored by critics, so you too can hopefully face the creepiness this tale offers and have a good movie night with it. Rolling Stone said, “The filmmakers want to jolt folks, for sure. But they also want to bring you to a place where the emotional after effects of that juddering linger long after the jump scares have faded away.” RT sums it up this way –
