Show creator, writer, director and star Lena Dunham has just fired off a tweet confirming a firm Girls season 2 premiere date:

Previously we’d only been able to confirm that season 2 would premiere some time in January so it’s comforting to have this nailed down firmly. Girls will air along with Enlightened season 2 on (more than likely) Sunday nights starting at 9PM. We hope Ms. Dunham can find time to attend the premiere whilst penning her $3 million memoir this winter!
Girls fans have been waiting for news of the new season for some time now. Hopefully this news today makes that burden a bit lighter. The first season [amazon_link id=”B008CFZS1G” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]hits Blu-Ray and DVD[/amazon_link] just in time for the holidays so perhaps that would be a good place to start if you need your fix of the Brooklyn Girls. The series tells the story of an ambitious executive at a global conglomerate, who returns to her fractured life after a humiliating public breakdown, determined to lead a more enlightened existence. But her newfound noble intentions only ratchet up the drama, wreaking unexpected havoc on those around her. Laura Dern stars in the series, which she executive produces along with Mike White, who also co-stars, writes and directs. Scott Stephens also executive produces. Dern received a 2012 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical.
