Evidently, JB Smoove cannot curb his enthusiasm for his TV gig as a part of the ensemble cast of Larry David’s CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. The actor behind the character Leon, who is Larry’s roommate after Larry’s divorce from Cheryl, went against protocol at an event to state when the series would return to HBO.
It seems that The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon house band The Roots throws a big bash in their home city of Philadelphia, PA every year and at their latest get-together Smoove was at the microphone and that is when he announced that the premiere date for Season 9 of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM will be —
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 01.
Again, that was a personal statement made by the actor. Usually, the network, in this case, HBO, makes an official announcement via a press release whenever it is good and ready. Upon Smoove’s comment, I scanned the HBO Press Kit to find no official statement as of yet. However, if everyone jumps on Smoove’s move than HBO might just turn around and make it official earlier than they may have planned. We will have to see if the announcement drops soon.
The main point here is though that the show’s fans should be excited to know that the series is coming soon. Perhaps Larry David and company will be coupled with the return of the sophomore season of DIVORCE or Danny McBride with VICE PRINCIPALS. CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. With 80 episodes to date, the show is HBO’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama series.
