Especially since it is one of the prestige shows on HBO, all eyes seem to be following every move THE WHITE LOTUS makes as it proceeds towards a fourth season. There has already been scrutiny on the next locale, which has been locked in in part. All we know so far is that Mike White is well clear of his Survivor stint, that he is writing the show, and that a warm clime location has been set. We are off to France the next time around; however, exactly where in that country the show will take place and where it will be filmed is still unclear. It could be Paris, or it could be on the Riviera.
Also a mystery, but at least underway is casting of the season, which is said to start filming in the Spring of 2026. Will we see a repeat character at the next White Lotus Resort? Don’t forget that Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell, and Jon Gries have repeated their characters in more than one season. Perhaps Carrie Coon or Patrick Schwarzenegger’s characters could revisit? The only name so far that has been an inkling of a possibility is Helena Bonham Carter; there has been early buzz that she is considering a role. The only time we’ve seen here in a dramatic TV role on HBO was the 2002 war drama HBO FILMS: LIVE FROM BAGHDAD. I’d say she’d be a good fit for THE WHITE LOTUS.
Since this anthology series has gone the route of becoming a “who gets murdered next” kind of show, you’d think the guest lists at the White Lotus Resort chain would begin to suffer a bit. But that hasn’t stopped a dozen or so vacationers from showing up at each destination. There is always staff on hand as well. Surely Bonham Carter isn’t part of the staff, she’s some Grand Dame on holiday, right? She’s someone who just might encounter Gries’ Greg Hunt and think little of him. We will just have to wait a see if the actress actually signs on. In the months ahead, a cast will firm up, and the exact locations will be made known. It will be fun to see how the next season takes shape. The fourth season could be ready for late 2026 or hold off until 2027. Keep checking back.
