We almost forgot to mention that the HBO/BBC production we know as INDUSTRY had been greenlit for a fifth and final season. The fourth season of the Mickey Down & Konrad Kay-driven work saw solid numbers and reached acclaim, so why not strike out with another season? We will see it sometime late in 2027 or into 2028, but it will be its last.
Down & Kay, the creators, showrunners, writers, directors, and executive producers of the show, said –

This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of INDUSTRY and it exists because of the unwavering faith and vision of our partners and former partners at HBO — Casey, Frannie, Kara, Cela, Sam, Kathleen, and Max. Without Jane Tranter’s imagination and belief, the show would simply be a dead idea in a drawer somewhere. She — alongside her partners at Bad Wolf — has been our guiding light and fiercest champion. We’d also like to thank the BBC for their partnership.
For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party. We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally: we owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live. The characters will live on because of their world class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future.”
The characters have all taken financial and personal tumbles during the fourth season, which concluded in March, and how they dig out and bounce back has yet to be seen. Perhaps for some, the adrenaline-filled life of high finance might just about burn them out. Time will tell.
Season four of INDUSTRY was declared by Variety “as a wildly ambitious reinvention” that is “bigger and better than ever.” Vulture hailed it “Industry’s best season yet” with IndieWire calling it “remarkable” television that will “blind you with its brilliance.” GQ praised it as an “exceptional fourth season…more self-assured, more stylish, and more powerful than ever before” and Decider applauded “career best turns from the ensemble cast” and “stunning filmmaking, brilliant writing and profound social commentary.”
Jane Tranter, executive producer, through her company Bad Wolf reflected back with this statement,
