MaxMovies_Reminiscence-Poster1-1024x278We know her as co-creator, writer, director, and executive producer for the HBO science-fiction drama series Westworld. She is Lisa Joy. And it is our joy to say that this sci-fi thriller film, written & directed by her, makes for her feature directorial debut. Joy’s creative team includes several of her Westworld collaborators, MaxMovies_Reminiscence-Posterincluding director of photography Paul Cameron, production designer Howard Cummings, editor Mark Yoshikawa and composer Ramin Djawadi. Reminiscence, somewhat shrouded in mystery, stars Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, Thandiwe Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu, Mojean Aria, Brett Cullen, Natalie Martinez, Angela Sarafyan, and Nico Parker. Joy also produces alongside her husband and creative partner Jonathan Nolan. The work gives us a classic private detective out to solve a case, but this time think of it a la Blade Runner in the world of Vanilla Sky. Reminiscence is the latest WarnerMedia Same-Day Premiere. The movie opened in available cinemas on Friday, August 20, 2021 and was uploaded to HBO Max the same day. The only catch is the movie appears for a limited time on the ad-free option of the streaming service. It runs through September 21, 2021. You might say that there is another catch; how do I watch this flick in the safety of my own home? Answer – you’ll need to subscribe to HBO Max.  That’s right, check out the latest deals and subscribe now.

What is “Reminiscence” About?

Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Ferguson). A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love? Yeah, that is rather vague, but we hope it captures your attention.
