People_DavidOyelowo-300x300David Oyelowo  – you know him as Martin Luther King is the Oscar nominated Selma. He is a diverse actor who has ranged from the animated Star Wars Rebels to Interstellar and an episode of The Good Wife. He is also no stranger to HBO as he was been in HBO Films: FIVE DAYS and a role in THE NO. 1 LADIES’ DETECTIVE AGENCY. He returns to HBO with NIGHTINGALE in May. Here is a Press release highlighting the details:

The HBO Films single-character drama NIGHTINGALE, starring Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo (Selma), will debut FRIDAY, MAY 29, it was announced by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming.

Directed by Elliott Lester from a screenplay by Frederick Mensch, NIGHTINGALE is a provocative drama that probes the darkest corners of a disturbed mind, as a war veteran begins to unravel thread by thread. This searing story of solitude and isolation offers a poignant look at how life has failed one man. “We are proud to be partnered with Plan B on this bold and powerful film,” said Lombardo. “This extraordinary solo performance by the incomparably talented David Oyelowo clearly demonstrates why he is one of the most gifted actors today.” “We are thrilled and honored to help bring NIGHTINGALE to an audience,” says executive producer Brad Pitt. “Sincere props to our friends at HBO for giving this extraordinary and courageous film its day.”

The work is about a man by the name of Peter  Snowden who suffers from post traumatic stress syndrome due to his stint of military duty. We see him struggle through life as he tries to deal and process his stresses and other feelings to get by day to day. The film is already out there due to its inclusion in the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival, but HBO rushes it to its audience under the banner of an HBO Films presentation to get it to a wider audience. Again, it premieres on 05.29 and HBOWatch will have a review. Here is a trailer for NIGHTINGALE.
