Just a couple of days after this posting, a trailer dropped for the series. It spells out the tone of the piece, the impact the exposed conspiracy has on our lead (played by Tim Robinson), and hints at the level of danger he appears to be in. We now include that trailer…

The HBO Original comedy series THE CHAIR COMPANY, created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, will debut SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. New episodes of the eight-episode season will debut weekly leading up to the season finale on Sunday, November 30.

The offered logline is quite simple. It states – After an embarrassing incident at work, a man (Robinson) finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy. Hmmm, that leaves it pretty wide open. Is this an inner-office conspiracy at his company, or more family-centered? Will it just affect him and his family, or cause damage to his town, or is it a worldwide conspiracy theory? We will get the full scoop starting in October.

For now, know this – The series marks another in a series of collaborations between Robinson and Kanin, who previously met as writers on Saturday Night Live before co-creating the comedy series Detroiters and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. Among the executive producers for The Chair Company are Adam McKay with his Hyperobject Industries and Andrew DeYoung, the latter of whom directed the first episode and also previously directed Robinson in the dark comedy film Friendship, now playing on HBO.

Tim Robinson stars as William Ronald Trosper with Lake Bell as his wife, Barb Trosper; Sophia Lillis as their daughter, Natalie Trosper, and Will Price as their son, Seth Trosper. Also appearing are Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini and Lou Diamond Phillips as Jeff Levjman. Below is a family pic.

Is William Ronald Trosper always eating, or is he busy making, distributing, and/or selling chairs? The 30-minute show will give us all we need to know.  Ben Travers of IndieWire included The Chair Company on his January 2025 list of “18 HBO Original Series to Get Excited About in 2025.” Travers wrote, “there’s no bigger 2025 premiere than this” for fans of Tim Robinson’s work, and jokingly described it as “the event of the century” despite the few details available so far about the show’s storyline.

Take a seat in front of HBO for THE CHAIR COMPANY, debuting SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12.
