After an official renewal it isn’t common to see HBO cancel a series. It takes a lot of effort and time to bring a series to life, even a second season of a series! So it suprised many to hear this afternoon that The Brink had been cancelled by HBO.  Here’s the quote from HBO itself:

“After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season. We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”

The statement is true, actually. HBO’s schedule is going to be bursting at the seams in 2016. After a lull between True Detective and HBO’s new series, Vinyl due to a delay of their new Sci-fi series, Westworld, HBO now has too much quality television to contain within a single year.  Not to mention some of the other programs in development right now, maybe The Brink just wasn’t meant to be.

We hope The Brink wasn’t your reason for subscribing to HBO (we know it wasn’t) but to the fans out there who are mourning this loss, take care. HBO will deliver several new comedies in 2016.  Fear not.

That sucks!
I really enjoyed season 1 and was looking forward to season 2. Funny and good series. You should at least have a final episode when you decide to cancel a show, just to show respect for your customers.
That pisses me off. Same thing happened to a few other series that I like. Just had it!

The four TV show I watched the most are Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, Veep and The Brink. Disappointed that the second season is cancelled.

I’m behind the curve here and was waiting for season 2. Soooo disappointed. This show is beyond excellent and at least right up there with VEEP and Silicon Valley, if not better. Why cancel a TOP show? A truly relevant show with huge wit & at least some color (read “diversity”)? Seems like a poor decision and I guess we’ll never really know why.

I wish someone would do a new, smarter take on the courtroom drama. I feel like that’s a genre begging for a reinvention.

That was a mistake, and this smacks of arrogance and a case of having your head up your ass. Don’t get me wrong, I love HBO, their programming, the ideas and creativity that are given a voice on that network is quite unique.
HBO is clearly experiencing a second golden age of creativity and the ensuing success. But that has also led to complacency and shorts-sighted decisions. And we all remember what happened after “Carnivale”, “ROME” and then “Deadwood” went the way of the dodo bird, after “The Sopranos” and “Sex And The City” and “The Wire” ended…HBO got caught with heir pants down and “John From Cincinnati” was all we were left with. The network was eventually rescued by “In Treatment” and the most unlikely of shows, “True Blood”.
So memo to HBO, don’t repeat the mistakes of the past. You have already missed on “Mad Men” and the works and most egregious mistake of all, “Preacher”, which I will now watch on AMC instead, that is if I can stomach Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s stench of mediocrity and the sell-out session their adaptation of “Preacher” will turn into, due to the content limitations on AMC.
HBO wake up and stop cancelling shows like “The Brink”…what are you Fox?!

no,dude.based on hbo’s original ideal, preacher will be one chapter at one epsoside,i think that’s not a good idael.vertigo still have some good comics,y:the last man, maybe watchmen .i think we should happy that mad men on a basic cable, and in that time,it’s not a great option that mad men land on hbo.

There is a freakin’ simple solution to all that nonsense. HBO needs to stop limiting itself to just Sunday night for its main series.

The comedy block in 2016 will be GIRLS, TOGETHERNESS, VEEP, SILICON VALLEY and BALLERS along with the newbies DIVORCE with Sarah Jessica Parker, INSECURE with issa Rae and the animated ANIMALS confirmed. There are a few other comedy concepts still under consideration.

What about Vice Principals?

You are right Bruno. I forgot to add VICE PRINCIPALS with Danny McBride. We haven’t heard anything about it for so long I forgot to add it. It too is in the equation as far as we know.
