INDUSTRY has got to be one of the most underrated, under-seen shows for HBO, and yet, it is highly acclaimed in the U. K. and here. As of this writing, there are just two episodes to go in its fourth season. Of course, the industry the title speaks of is the world of high finance and investment banking. It is high stakes, and utilizing top tech and sharp minds to willingly deal in billions of dollars is an intense business. It is clearly ramped up for dramatic effect in this series, and that makes it hard to follow at times. But the showrunners/writers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay really have nailed down an energized tale for thirty-two installments when all is done. That is, unless there is a fifth season, which has yet to be confirmed.
The third season finale was open-ended, forcing a fourth season to tie up all the loose threads. But we are just at the point in the fourth season to see whether it ends in a shocker or with a neat little bow. According
to an official press release, Pierpoint alum Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) are in for the ultimate game of cat and mouse when a new “splashy fintech darling,” a payment-processing company called Tender, bursts onto the London finance scene. Yasmin navigates her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington), while Harper falls into the orbit of London’s latest power player, Tender’s enigmatic executive Whitney Halberstram (Max Minghella). In the midst of the chaos, Harper and Yasmin’s twisted friendship begins to warp under high stakes and “the pressure of money, power, and the desire to be on top.” Since then, we’ve learned that Tender is shady & corrupt, but high stakes have been placed on its success. Relationships are set to crumple as a result, and the integrity of high finance is in the balance.
All the shenanigans seem to cause one key player to throw his hands up and literally walk away. Harper’s mentor, Eric Tao (Ken Leung), hands her the rights to his company, SternTao, and leaves.
