Like all good HBO series, THE LAST OF US burned through its first season pretty quickly and if the numbers are any indication millions of people are waiting for what is next from Druckmann/Mazin. Season Two of the series, of course, has gotten the greenlight already; it will be a while though before that comes around. In fact, lead Pedro Pascal said when asked about S2 getting underway sooner than later, “In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We’re getting into spring? Yes, there is a chance. Yes.” Even if what Pedro Pascal jokingly said were true we are looking at late 2024 or into 2025 before we see new episodes. What to do until then?

TheLastOfUs-MakingOf-300x168Of course, THE LAST OF US Season One is curated on HBO Max for you to watch as many times as you need to. Plus, there is plenty of additional content out there. We’ve mentioned it before but in case you are truly starving for something to tide you over, have you seen all the Inside the Episode installments? They are in-depth conversations with the cast & crew regarding each of the nine episodes. There is also an Invitation to the Set piece. Plus, there is the half-hour all-access documentary detailing the daunting behind-the-scenes efforts that went into the production called The Making of The Last Of Us. All that can be found on HBO Max.

Over on YouTube, you can find a slew of videos all about the series, but real cool ones include a few videos with Troy Baker, who voiced the character of Joel in TheLastOfUs_BakerQA-300x180the Naughty Dog game and cameoed in the series. Look for “Troy Baker Talks The Last of Us” clips and also find a video from Ashley Johnson, who voiced Ellie in the video game about her time appearing in the series. Heck, there are a lot of clips to keep you entertained. You can even go as far back as secretive video clips of when the show was shooting in Canada. And here is another reminder that each episode has a podcast focused on it as well.

Of course, there is the game itself. We already reminded you about it, but there is new news on that front as well. A PC version of the game will be available to digitally download as of March 28, 2023. A hard copy version should arrive at a later date.

I know, even with all that it will still be a long wait, but all those clips, the game, and a re-watch or two will chew up some time. And as long as Clickers doesn’t chew your face off, imagery from Season Two will be upon us before you know it.

And while we are teasing that in closing, it has been stated by Mazin & Druckmann both that the show will go no further than what the games show, and as a player of the PlayStation game I can say there is plenty of great story to tell. But they did say that it will take more than one season to complete that story. GQ got this out of them in an interview –

GQ: People are also speculating how Season 2 will encompass such a large game. Will the next season span the entire course of the second game?

Mazin: [shakes head] No. No way.  TheLastOfUs-IsItAbby

Druckmann: It’s more than one season.

GQ: Can you tell us if it’s two or three seasons?

Mazin: You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct. [Laughs].

So, there it is, at least Season Three is ahead as well. So, amuse yourselves until Season Two and keep your ears attuned for the sound of Clickers and, oh yeah, remember that Abby is nearby!
