As much as there has been excitement and joy that the Harry Potter franchise will get a new look and be looked at via a new angle, there is still backlash over it all. It is a little too late, as the big IP venture is well underway. Those who grumble that Paapa Essiedu is Severus Snape will just have to get over it. Those who disavow J. K. Rowling’s stance on gender identity might have a harder decision to make. Can you endorse the talents of the woman without supporting her causes? Well, that’s a discussion for elsewhere, but her design, the world of Harry Potter, is too huge to ignore, and Warner Bros., via HBO, is cashing in.
HBO Max has released the official teaser for the eight-episode first season of the upcoming original series, titled HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE, at the HBO Max UK & Ireland launch event earlier. It is said the series will debut Christmas 2026 on HBO and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max, where it’s available, including recent launch markets Germany, Italy, and the UK & Ireland.
