To some of you this may be hilarious and to others: total sadness. George R.R Martin, author of the notoriously long A Song of Ice and Fire novels of which HBO’s Game of Thrones is based, has been hounded by fans who want what would be the sixth novel in the series sooner rather than later. There have also been concerns that the series will catch up to the novels which is a big problem for some readers. Needless to say the lengthy, complex tomes have not been released quickly in the past. Fans have been waiting for the sixth novel, The Winds of Winter since 2011 with no firm release date on record as of today.
This latest revelation my be salt in the lingering wounds as well, Game of Thrones fans. Brace yourselves: George apparently types with a single finger. Don’t believe us? Check out this video interview (skip to 23 minutes in):
Are you trolling us, George?!
“I still only type with one Finger” – George R.R Martin (December 2013)
Okay, so we know he’s talking about the past and maybe he’s since upgraded to two fingers now (though the video seems to suggest otherwise). We all like giving the guy a hard time but HBOWatch knows that good things take time; especially a work as intricate and sprawling as this! Write at your own pace, George but we do think you’d be well served by learning to type Hizdahr Zo Loraq with at least three fingers!

We joked around with Westeros.org, the leading fan community and a duo who actually helps GRRM keep all of his facts straight when it comes to canon:
@HBOWatch Two fingers, technically. One on each hand. ;) With practice, you can get to 80-90 WPM with that.

The Winds of Winter will be released when it’s damn-well-good-and-done! Check out A World of Ice and Fire which actually DOES have a release date in 2014.
