Game-of-Thrones-Season-2-Ratings-Numbders-300x168To no one’s suprise, Game of Thrones season 2 premiered to the highest ratings numbers ever in the short history of the HBO  series. In fact the show made the strongest opening night of any HBO show in recent memory with a grand total of 6.3 million viewers watching the premiere. These numbers do not count the millions of you who watched the episode On Demand or on HBOGo.

The ratings are great news for Game of Thrones fans awaiting the announcement of a season 3. HBO had set a goal of 4 million viewers for the initial airing and the show pulled in 3.9, just shy of that when you only count the 9PM time slot. But honestly, television doesn’t work like that anymore and you’re going to want to count the On Demand and HBOGo numbers as well, which we should have soon. I wonder what the torrent numbers are for the first season?! Get on that streaming-only option, HBO, and wrap those numbers into your ratings as well.

We’ll post the forthcoming Game of Thrones Season 3 announcement as soon as we get it.
