got-mixtape For about a week now we’ve known about this mysterious “mix tape” that was planned to drop today in anticipation of Game of Thrones season 4. The tracks include work from artists such as Big Bio (Outkast), Common, Daddy Yankee, Snow Tha Product and Wale.  This is an entirely new marketing strategy for HBO which has been at the forefront of digital promotion for some time now but this might be a whole new level.  Check out the track list:

01. Big Boi – “Mother of Dragons”
02. Magazeen – “Iron Throne”
03. Bodega Bamz – “Win or Die”
04. Kilo Kish – “Magical Reality”
05. Daddy Yankee – “Born to Rule”
06. Dominik Omega – “Arya’s Prayer”
07. Snow – “Fire”
08. Dee Goodz – “The Parallel”
09. Common – “Interlude/The Ladder”
10. Wale – “King Slayer”

Most of the songs sample music from the Game of Thrones soundtracks.  We’ve reviewed all three so check those out here if you haven’t already.  Maybe you’d prefer those to rap!    If you listen closely you’ll hear some never-before-heard lines from the new season.  Give it a listen now for free:

The new season begins April 6th.

Yeah I had pretty low expectations for this but I actually like a few tracks. I suggest trying Arya’s Prayer, Fire and The Ladder.

Oh and the Richard Sherman shout-out in The Ladder was most welcome.

If you’ve listened to the Game of Thrones soundtracks you’ll probably enjoy this more.

#AryaStark Arya’s Prayer is da bomb! I listened to it and I must admit….I liked it. It has a catchy tune and if you listen to the lyrics, it is SO Arya! I hope someone comes up with a hard rock or metal album for Game of Thrones! That would be awesome: Metallica, Iron Maiden, NIN…. :)
