Filming-BWEIt seems like only yesterday we were strolling down the boardwalk with Nucky and the gang trying to avoid becoming assassinated by any number of individuals and organizations.  While the long winter may have pushed HBO’s Boardwalk Empire to the back of our minds the breaking dawn can now be seen.

We can confirm that Boardwalk Empire season 4 has begun principal filming!

A couple of weeks ago we got wind of a NYC casting call for 20 somethings willing to work in a smoky environment and receive period-appropriate hair cuts.  Now that doesn’t give us any hints as to what’s going to be happening in Atlantic City this season but it does nail down some filming dates for us!  It looks like filming actually began on April 5th with shoots happening today (4/11) and tomorrow (4/12) as well.

We also noticed a fun tweet from Michael K Williams’ (Chalky White, Omar) barber:

Season 4 appears to be adding a litany of new actors to the rosters this year including Ron Livingston, Brian Geraghty, and Jeffrey Wright.  We’ll get you more information on a premiere date soon but for now keep it locked on our series schedule.  We expect season 4 to air in the Fall, as always.

UPDATE:  Deadline is now reporting that Patricia Arquette will also be joining the gangster crew this year.  She’ll be playing “…a tough-as-nails Tampa speakeasy owner with connections to local gangsters.”

Richard is a badass!!! I hope Nucky recruits him in season 4. I started watching season 1 two weeks ago and couldn’t stop. It started out a bit slow, but you could tell it was not gonna be disappointing, either.

I hope your are right about the man servant. He was dedicated, I respect that.
Again, can’t wait to see the story unfold next season. I want the Nucky and Mrs. Schoader back together, they make a great team. Plus she is bringing another child into the world. Loss makes you want to cling to someone or something. Chalky White, Chalky White…where will they go with you now?

Just discovered the show last week and have been glued to HBO Go ever since. Wow! What I’ve been missing!

Cast, writing, and directing is terrific. Steve Buscemi, your portrayal of Nucky is terrific. Entire cast and crew deserve Emmy’s.

I hope Season 4 explores the history between Nucky and Gillian more, there could be a good background drama there.

I also can’t wait. Love the story line. Love the clothes.
Chalky White is in a good place to negotiate a better cut, more respect for his dedication, and whatever else.
Sooo sorry Nucky and Mrs. Schoader both lost someone they loved last season.
Sad for Nucky’s man servant. He was old school in his loyalty/dedication to his employer. I would love to learn of the back story on that relationship.

awesome show dare i say better than sopranos???????

No, don’t go there! The Sopranos hit the ground running and was consistently brilliant, finishing with the greatest finale in TV history. Boardwalk is brilliant too, but I’d say it didn’t become great until this last season, the stunning series premiere notwithstanding.

Its paifull role, Nucky, however he should play it over and over. They should expand the story about Masseria the mafiosi chat talk the background the women they are maried. Its about time a new mob series should be born.

Can’t wait! Hope Margaret comes back! So sad to see Owen and Jimmy and Gillian go. I hope Arnold Rothstein makes a few more appearances. Such an amazing cast and the writing is beyond.

I agree with Ian… Love the show. I had attempted to watch the show and really could not get into it. Once I made it through the first episode I was hooked. It was a shame to see Michael Pitt leave the show but each and every actor are the best group on HBO series by far.. RaveCan’t wait till season 4
