HBO & Max are about to ramp up more marketing for the dramatic series DUNE: PROPHECY. Originally a Max exclusive the show is now, due to smart re-branding, an HBO Original to be viewable both on the streamer and the HBO pay channel come November. As that marketing arrives we will get and pass on the actual debut date and the official trailer. Right now, we have a scattering of images and two teasers, which accompany this posting.
From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer. The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television with Legendary also producing the film franchise that has released two installments to critical acclaim, the first of which garnered six Academy Awards.

Pia Barlow, Executive Vice President, Originals Marketing, HBO and Max states, “We can’t wait for fans to dive into the world of DUNE: PROPHECY. By offering interactive experiences, panels, and special screenings, we’re bringing the epic story of the Sisterhood to life, allowing fans to connect with the series in a whole new way before its premiere this November.” Events are planned for the New York Comic-Con in October to add ‘spice’ to the marketing. Plus, Alamo Drafthouse cinemas will have special screenings through October.
All of this is gearing up to what is hoped to be a well-received and powerful ly dramatic six-episode saga to enhance the DUNE universe. GAME OF THRONES was HBO’s grand fantasy tale of conquest and treachery and DUNE: PROPHECY is hoped to fill that niche for sci-fi fans and Dune followers. Will the Sisterhood lure you in?
