Steve McQueen is a hot Hollywood director right now thanks to his Oscar-worthy 12 Years A Slave. He has now teamed up with producer Russell Simmons, who has a first-look deal with HBO, to bring a project to the pay channel. It is just in the preliminary stage and does not have a title, but does have a premise and a co-writer on board.
The untitled drama is described as an exploration of a young African-American man’s experience entering New York City, NY’s high society, with a past that may not be what it seems. Assisting McQueen in writing the work is scribe Michael Carnahan who recently wrote World War Z. This project is expected to be on the fast track to fit it into the newly acclaimed director’s schedule. It is nice to see what he will offer HBO viewers. HBOWatch will keep you informed.
