We know there is a return to BIG LITTLE LIES someday, so any bit of news is appreciated. Well, David E. Kelley, creator of HBO’s look at the Liane Moriarty story, has dropped a tidbit.
He told People in a new interview that while he’s “not allowed” to reveal specific details, fans should expect a reunion featuring their favorite seaside community moms. “We’re getting the band back together, and it should be a good run again,” he said.

Well, okay, but a new season of BIG LITTLE LIES, which was meant to be a limited series if you remember, has been in the buzz since 2023. What is taking so long? Well, also remember that the production is closely linked to the franchise’s source material & its author. The wait was for Moriarty to write the sequel and get it published in book form before adapting it for the screen. The novel reaches shelves on August 25 of this year, so does that mean we are weeks away from starting to craft a screenplay? Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-creator, EP, and showrunner Francesca Sloane is said to be in charge of crafting the scripts.
All the same, we are still just creeping forward. With months to go before we see anything, is BIG LITTLE LIES Season 3 going to be like EUPHORIA Season 3 and face the problem of arriving so late that viewers have forgotten it? That initial season was back in 2017, and the sequel was in 2019. What will the Monterey 5 struggle with next? Also, similar to EUPHORIA, the story of the Monterey women will jump ahead through the years. We can only hope Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley all come along for the story. We’ll keep you posted, but it sure is moving like molasses. Oh, that’s right, we don’t rush HBO’s quality.
