Yeah, if that sounds a bit familiar to you, think Bridget Everett’s SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE, which happened to be a Strauss-produced work as well. Just substitute the ‘music saved her life ‘ vibe for ‘comedy saved her life’ and there you go. We are not, especially since it is far, far too early to speculate anything, trashing Hoffman’s attempt to make something work at HBO. We are noting that perhaps a bit of a trend could be building. Don’t forget Rachel Sennott, Kaley Cuoco, and Sharon Horgan have half-hour shows in the offing as well. Hey, there is room for all, as long as they maintain HBO’s high standard for quality. Here is hoping Robby Hoffman’s venture is in that class. We’ll see.
