cinemaxFans of Cinemax’s BANSHEE have been waiting a while for the concluding season of that series and it is just around the corner as well as the new series OUTCAST which was featured at SXSW this year. Here is a look at both.

BANSHEE’s fourth and final season will debut on April 01, 2016 at 10:00pm. It was originally slated for a January debut but was held off a couple of months to firm up finale season. You will notice, if you followed that last link, that we already posted a detailed press release regarding the fourth season, but we add the updated notice attached to that previous release.

BANSHEE will return for its eight-episode fourth and final season FRIDAY, APRIL 1 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on CINEMAX. Alan Ball, Greg Yaitanes, Jonathan Tropper, Peter Macdissi, Adam Targum and Ole Christian Madsen executive produce.

Banshee_S04-300x169“BANSHEE is a unique and compelling show that helped set high standards for original programming for CINEMAX,” says Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “The show’s exceptional blend of action and drama earned a vocal and passionate fan base that will not be disappointed in BANSHEE’s final season.”

BANSHEE’s third season achieved record ratings for CINEMAX, as well as critical acclaim. Yahoo! named it “TV’s best action show,” while the A.V. Club described the series as “one of the best things on television, period.” The Huffington Post called the show “wildly witty,” and Grantland said BANSHEE is “a whole hell of a lot of fun.”

“BANSHEE has been an incredible ride, and we continue to break new ground in season four,” notes co-creator and executive producer Jonathan Tropper. “While we certainly considered returning for a fifth season, I always said that when the story was told, it would be time to move on, and that time has come. I am grateful to CINEMAX for making BANSHEE the great success it has been and for supporting our creative decision to wrap things up.”

Cinemax has dropped what is called a Super Trailer regarding the big, exciting conclusion. Here it is.

As one show ends another one begins. OUTCAST begins June 03, 2016. The network must believe that this is a great, chilling series as Cinemax has already given it a second season. We gave it a quick look earlier where you can see the trailer. Now we have a release announcing it premiere.

The CINEMAX drama series OUTCAST will launch its ten-episode season FRIDAY, JUNE 3 and has been renewed for a second season ahead of the series debut. The series is created and executive produced by Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”), and executive produced by showrunner Chris Black.

“OUTCAST has been a passion project of mine for many years,” said Kirkman. “Seeing it come together has been a huge thrill for me. What we’ve been able to achieve on CINEMAX, with its unprecedented creative freedom, frankly, almost scares ME at times.” Going into the first season of OUTCAST, we knew that Robert Kirkman had once again created a world that would scare us to our core,” said Kary Antholis, president, CINEMAX Original Programming. “But what he, Chris Black and the rest of their team have delivered has exceeded even those high expectations. We believe our viewers will immediately be sucked into OUTCAST’s intense and creepy landscape, which is why we have chosen to pick up a second season.”

Based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, OUTCAST follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher who has personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate — and the fate of the world — forever.

Patrick Fugit (“Gone Girl”) stars as Barnes, a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who sequesters himself from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt. Philip Glenister (“Life on Mars”) stars as Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn’t believe God intends people to sweat the small stuff. Gabriel Bateman (“Stalker”) stars as Joshua Austin, an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle. To his family’s dismay, he appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession, but there’s something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes.

OUTCAST is produced for CINEMAX by FOX International Studios (FIS), and also executive produced by David Alpert, Sharon Tal Yguado and Sue Naegle. The pilot was directed by Adam Wingard (“The Guest”).

Plus there is the upcoming QUARRY, but we have no new news on that show. But, if you got Cinemax consider yourself lucky because you got some good original series coming your way.
