Christopher-Girls-QuitIn an apparent creative dispute with show creator Lena Dunham, Christopher Abbot is leaving HBO’s GIRLS.  The series has just begun filming it’s third season in Brooklyn, NYC this month and reportedly Christopher (Charlie) “didn’t like the direction the show was going in”.  We’re not sure what that means exactly but here is the statement from Christopher’s agent:

“[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire ‘Girls’ cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.”

And Charlie seemed to be the most normal male on the show!  I hope he allows HBO to film some sort of exit scene otherwise the story is about to get real stupid. Maybe they’ll just replace him and hope we don’t notice.  Or a digital replacement ala Jar Jar Binks?  Ugh.  Sad news for Girls fans today. Let’s hope Lena can write her way out of this jam.

Season 3 has been confirmed as a 12 episode season but no word on a premiere date just yet.  More as we get it.

People in their 20’s in Manhattan & Brooklyn are flighty and take off for other lands all the time. She can write him out in a second!

Oh whatever! He’s not that great of an actor anyway. Go ahead and replace him. We will get over it. Just hurry up and bring girls back. Shows seem to have such long hiatus’ these days.

If you want to bring someone back bring back that older Dr. Dude.
Now that was a good story. :)

This stinks! We were barely seeing more of him in the second season and totally falling in love. He will be missed. I really hope they don’t try and replace his sexy ass.
